Notes

The second single from the album English Settlement. The two songs on side B were not available before. This original version of "Heaven Is Paved with Broken Glass" on 7" and 12" (see below) remains unavailable elsewhere, although its remix version appeared on two compilations: Beeswax and Rag & Bone Buffet.

Notes

"Cockpit Dance Mixture" is a dub version of "Down in the Cockpit" from the English Settlement album, and was previously unreleased.

The Dutch issue's disc is made in Germany, just like the 12" version of "Senses Working Overtime."

"Heaven Is Paved with Broken Glass" remixed by XTC.

"Cockpit Dance Mixture" remixed by Andy Partridge. Overdubs, including guitar, recorded early 1982.

Songs composed by *Colin Moulding and Andy Partridge.

A promotional film was made for "Ball and Chain."


Trivia

The picture on the cover was taken in Swindon. It shows one of the last Victorian terrace houses on Wescott Street before demolition.

The initial rejected recordings of "Ball and Chain" and "Punch and Judy" were made at The Town House in March 1981, along with the released "Egyptian Solution," in the sessions with Alan Winstanley.
